Crazy Phone Spotted at Slabtown Burgers in Traverse City, MI

I spotted my first rustic phone at Slabtown Burgers in Traverse City, MI. The owner mentioned that he was remodeling a place for someone that was in to the rustic theme and that when it was all said and done he was given this phone. He also mentioned that it was in his garage for quite some time and that when he opened Slabtown he felt that it would be a perfect addition to the decor- I couldn't agree more.

Release 2.5.3 delivers enhancements and fixes to previous functionality. This release includes:

-Full support for G.729 Annex A and Annex B Codec

Getting Started with Switchvox 4.5:

When setting up your new Polycom IP Phone for the first time you should start by logging in to the phone by selecting the Messages Key on the right hand side of your phone or by entering 899 on the number pad. This will log you in to the Switchvox message center.

Setting up your Unavailable Message:

1. Press the Messages key or dial 899
2. Enter your Password (By Default this will be your extension number)
3. Press 0 (Zero) for “Mailbox Options”
4. Press 1 (One) to record your “Unavailable Message”
5. Record Your Message After the Tone Press # (Pound Key)
6. Follow Instructions – 1= Save, 2 = Listen, 3 = Re-Record

Setting up your Busy Message:

1. Press the Messages key or dial 899

Snom Introduces the PA1 SIP Paging Device

Paging with SIP and Asterisk has always been an interesting situation. I've tried everything from a jury rigged sound card and hacked phone speaker to yelling across the room (Preferred .e4 method) Times have changed however... With the ever increasing competitive nature of the things you can connect to Asterisk market, we've seen a decent surge in the VoIP Paging space. Companies like Cyberdata have paved the way for other SIP device companies like snom to enter the market with devices that appear to be 1/2 the price.

Enter the Snom PA1:

From the data sheet... The audio control system snom PA1 augments your existing SIP PBX with another component of modern communication. The snom PA1 unites the functions of a telephone with a high-performance digital amplifier for broadcasting announcements and supplying background music to assigned rooms, hallways, and office floors.

An announcement via snom PA1 is effected simply by initiating a call from a snom telephone with its handset, headset, or via handsfree mode. An efficient 4 Watt amplifier provides sufficient coverage for the entire room or floor space.

Several snom PA1 units can be connected to each other via the built-in switch and can be connected with any available loudspeaker on the market, thus enabling customers a great cost-saving contribution with already installed components. The individual network cables can be up to 100 meters long. The snom PA1 can be optionally installed on walls or ceilings.

The snom PA1 can be power-fed either via conventional power supply unit connection or through Power-over- Ethernet (PoE). The specific addressing of individual snom PA1 control systems can be centrally configured via the device’s web interface.

Aside of the leading SIP protocol, the snom PA1 can also be addressed via Multicast, thus enabling one transmitter to simultaneously address many receivers. As with all other snom terminals, updates and configuration changes for the snom PA1 can be centrally effected over the server.

For maintenance purposes, the snom PA1 has two 3.5 mm jacks for headset connection. Four freely programmable output pins can be utilized for controlling the snom PA1 via its web interface.
