Switchvox AA60 - More information on the Appliance

http://www.8774e4voip.com/blog/2008/03/more-on-switchvox-aa60.html
--------
After a bit more research I found that it might be a good idea to elaborate on a few of the features available on the new Switchvox AA60.
Switchvox AA60 Provisioning tool:
From what I understand there will be a provisioning element in the system that will afford the the PBX administrator to provision extensions via a handy dandy web UI tool. This will be a "Pay to Play" solution that is billed to the customer under the same subscription model as the current support mechanism and will NOT be available as an update for current silver, gold, and platinum users. --- If you want this feature you'll have to pay for it separately. Hey Digium Correct me if I am wrong.
User Search Feature:
I touched on this feature in my last post not fully understanding the update in general. From what I Understand now, this addition to Switchvox 3.5 will work much like using Google's desktop search tool or Windows Vista OS search feature.... I guess it will work like this... there will be a search box on the Switchvox AA60 under the manage extensions section where you can start typing an end-users name from there it will start populating any possible matches so that you do not have to type in the entire name - it will start populating possible matches immediately based on the first letters entered. Again, Digium- Correct me if I am wrong.

More on the Switchvox AA60
Sunday, March 23, 2008
As you may have heard, the folks at Digium have released yet another product designed specifically to meet the needs of small businesses everywhere. The latest being a small form factor device that will ship pre-loaded with the award winning Switchvox SOHO or Switchvox SMB Software. This new offering will replace their tower PC solutions and carry the latest software features available only in version 3.5.
What's New in the Switchvox AA60 and Switchvox 3.5?
Phone Provisioning Tool:
Switchvox SMB 3.5 will now have built in phone configuration through an integrated phone management tool that will allow for automatic detection of handsets on the network. In addition to this benefit the Switchvox 3.5 version will also feature an updated admin suite that will carry different levels of access for users slated with the task of administering the Switchvox PBX.
Inbound and Outbound Calls:
Also new in 3.5 will be an updated "Incoming Calls" utility... An enhancement over previous versions the updated page will let users more easily map Direct Inward Dialing numbers (DIDs) to users, IVRs, and Call Queues with the system. The new 3.5 Software will also provide the ability to set outbound caller id resources on a per user extension basis, streamlining the current Switchvox SMB methodology.
Enhanced Phonebook Panel:
BRAVO! - Now users can add multiple contacts to their switchboard simultaneously... This is a major improvement to the current switchvox SMB functionality. Previously, end-users would have to traverse multiple screens to add users one at a time. 3.5 eliminates this by allow the user to grab multiple contacts at once.
End-User Search Feature:
Although I haven't seen this in action, Digium's description of this feature leads me to believe that when you are on the "Manage Extensions" screen there will be a search bar for typing in the users name for easy modification. The PRE Switchvox 3.5 version require that you first select the extension type from a pull down menu then scan through a list of end-users... This will eliminate the need to browse multiple extension pages while utilizing the CTRL + F function of your browser.

Wideband Voice Conferencing Appliance
“Investing in innovation has always been my mantra,” said David Erickson, Founder and CEO, Free Conferencing Corporation of America. “When presented with the opportunity to offer an affordable, high-end 16 kHz voice quality product that bridges the gap between PSTN and VoIP, it made total sense to get behind this revolutionary technology. WYDE Voice introduces a new level of conferencing technology with unparalleled flexibility and reliability.”
WYDE Voice is the culmination of two years of research and development, and it brings high-quality voice to complex, multi-speaker and multi-listener environments. Utilizing Asterisk®, the new WYDE Voice appliances offer unsurpassed flexibility without sacrificing performance.
“We have developed these products to accommodate the needs of both service providers and enterprises to deliver conference services and applications that were once cost prohibitive,” said Michael Eastman, Vice President of Global Sales for WYDE Voice. “We are truly pushing the envelope with these turnkey products that will offer customizable features at the most cost effective price point on the market.”
Industry Analyst Perspective on the Potential of WYDE Voice
According to Eastman, the new models are available now with pricing for the VM1000 model starting at $160/port and $140/port for the VM3000 – a fraction of the cost of competitive bridges. In addition, preset modes such as reservation-less conferencing are installed on each appliance and can be easily tailored to meet business needs including specialized call flow or advanced features such as real-time conference control.
“This new product has the potential to really ‘disrupt’ and push the industry towards adopting newer technologies. The advent of wideband audio will have widespread appeal and fill a real need in the market,” said Marc Beattie, Partner & CSP Practice Manager, Wainhouse Research, LLC. “From a pure cost per port perspective, the WYDE Voice product could really shake things up, and that alone would be a disruptor.”
Service Providers, Channel Partners and Enterprises all Benefit from WYDE Voice
Eastman envisions a multitude of applications for the new WYDE Voice products including premium audio conferencing services, social networking site con calls, distance learning and online collaboration tools for webcasts, among others. “We will support this launch with an aggressive reseller program with attractive pricing for service providers, systems integrators, and VARs,” he added. “In addition, enterprises can easily take a WYDE Voice product and integrate it seamlessly within their organizations to conduct internal conference calling, especially those that are high volume users.” The new WYDE Voice models can accommodate from 500 to 7000 concurrent G.711 callers and up to 3000 16 bit/16 kHz iSAC callers.
